SET DESIGN
We wanted to put the Korean American culture on full display. So I designed the set with colorful lights and decorated it with Korean folk ornaments, partying with Atlanta’s creative community, classic Korean snacks. I thought it would’ve be awesome to see non-Korean people interacting with Korean culture in a casual, normative manner - an environment rarely seen in media.
Set was designed by me and my friends
LOCATIONS
Buford Highway is the life blood of Atlanta so we wanted to pay homage to the mom and pop shops we all love. We filmed in two famous locations on Buford Highway - easily recognized by locals. I wanted this video to make someone from Atlanta say “hey, I know where that is - I love the food in Buford Highway!”
We had to show love to Buford Highway Korean food!
To add nostalgic flavor to the video, we filmed on a green screen to show a variety of Korean imagery in the background. My intent was to create wonder and curiosity about Asian culture.
Art Direction: Green screening Asian cultural references was a no-brainer
